About The Book:
A practice-oriented guide for any lawyer involved in litigation or arbitration in the United States but faces issues that go beyond its borders. Both international litigation and arbitration are extensively covered in this work. The chapters revolve around the practical problems which face the litigator - service of proceedings, discovery, the obtaining of evidence and enforcement of judgments and awards. In addition, some important topics in substantive law are addressed.

Praise for The Practice of International Litigation

"The appeal of The Practice of International Litigation to American lawyers will be obvious from a glance at the chapter headings. It can also be warmly commended to legal practioners on the eastern side of the Atlantic. I refer not only to lawyers in the United Kingdom but to those in continental Europe and further afield. We have here a series of chapters, tackling issues of immediate relevance to both common and civil lawyers, in particular those who act for clients engaged in international trade...The authors are highly regard practitioners in the field of dispute resolution. They write of the problems which they have encountered or can foresee. The chapters cover some 15 years of case law. Thus, they are able to write, from knowledge gained in their own practice, of the work of that important but somewhate invisible dispute settler, the Iran-United States Claims Tribunal. ... All in all there is much information to be gained and much intellectual pleasure to be derived from this book."
- Sir Patrick Neil, QC Formerly Warden All Souls College and Vice Chancellor, Oxford University; Judge, Courts of Appeal of Jersey And Guernsey

"The Practice of International Litigation is an indispensable aid to all practitioners who work in the field of international litigation and arbitration. ... No doubt, the authors' continuos exposure to problems of international adjudication in their own practice has enhanced their perception and critical evaluation of the challenging problems that continue to arise in this steadily growing area of international commerce."
- Hans Smit, Fuld Professor of Law, Columbia University Law School

"This work is of particular interest to those who work in the international field because it describes the vital areas of practice such as service of proceedings, rules of discovery, the obtaining of evidence and awards and the important matter of enforcement of judgments and awards overseas. ? This book is commended to construction lawyers involved in international litigation, as well as to postgraduate students of civil litigation studies."
- Construction & Engineering Law
